  • ENGL 1121: Due Dates and Grade Requirements

    Fall 2009

Your grade in the course will be determined by both the quantity and the quality of your work. During the course there are 7 course assignments and a final memo  which will be graded.  Please note that the grades are weighted so that work done later in the semester has more weight in determining the final grade.

In each project there is a main assignment.  Most projects have additional requirements such as discussion postings and a process memo.  If the Chapter 6 assignment, the researched argument, is below college level work,  the research project will receive a grade of "I" (incomplete) until the assignment is revised.  Students must successfully complete a college-level research project to receive a passing grade in this course.

No late work will be accepted after the D2L dropbox locks.   The D2L assignment dropbox will lock 24 hours after the assignment due date.  Work submitted after the due date, during this 24-hour grace period, will have a 1-point late penalty.  You are expected to work steadily on assignments throughout the semester.  Procrastinating writing until the night before an assignment is due does NOT allow time for good practice of the writing process.  When you procrastinate, you risk submitting first drafts rather than your best work.  I do not encourage procrastination.  The grace period should be necessary only in emergencies, such as computer crashes.   In the event that you do not submit an assignment before the dropbox locks,  then that assignment will receive a grade of zero or F.  This may be the lowest grade that is dropped on the chapter 1-5 assignments.

December 2, 2009, is the last day to withdraw with a grade of W.  Students who are behind in course work on this date are advised to withdraw.   All course work must be completed and turned in by midnight, Wednesday, December 16,  2009.
