What constitutes good letter writing?

I seem to ramble these days when I write a letter with the information I’m trying to get across all in a jumble.

short and concise paragraphs with only one topic per paragraph.
Honesty
Use appropriate language, eg if the letter is professional avoid casual language.
use sequence- write in order of events or time or preferance, any sequence is ok if you stick to it.
If its a causual letter don’t just provide information, ask questions as well.
